Description: Species in danger of extinction protected by national and community laws. It has a large head, of massive appearance, with rigid and triangular ears, relatively short and little pointed. The eyes are frontalized and oblique in relation to the muzzle, and topaz colored. In the muzzle, it shows a brighter region, in white tones, starting obliquely from the throat to the external angle of the eye. The members are strong and robust, with a coloration between brown and beige, internally, and brown to ocher, externally. It has longitudinal and black stripes in the anterior surface of the front members, and this is what distinguishes this subspecies from the others. The back is marked by a black stripe, extending from the neck to the tail. The trunk shows a brown yellow fur.


Habitat: Mountain areas (generalist in the selection of the habitat depending essentially of the food availability and levels of disturbance.


Where to find in the Arouca Geopark: Arada and Freita Mountains.
