Roman Path

Popularly called "Roman sidewalk", that´s a path which enters in the territory next to the Portela of the Anta, coming from Manhouce, and that already delimited the Arouca Monastery property in the century XIII. This route would pass through Albergaria das Cabras, currently Albergaria da Serra, Provesende, Quintela, Chão de Ave, Venda da Serra, Alagoas, Escariz and Fermedo, and its final route was connected to the Roman route which, connecting Olissípo ( Lisbon) to Bracara Augusta (Braga), passed at the base of Monte Murado (Pedroso, Gaia). Curiously, in this place, also is denominated "old road of Viseu". Although its flagstone still lacks a dating through new archaeological surveys, it is possible that its layout retreats to pre-medieval periods, presumably from the Roman period.
